HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation provides the skills and knowledge necessary for childcare workers, teachers and health professionals to initiate and competently sustain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until a paramedic or first aid crew arrives.

Course outline

HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child and infant following cardiac arrest, including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Skills and knowledge covered

  • Management of an unconscious breathing person.
  • Management of an unconscious non-breathing person.
  • Safe work practices including minimising risks and potential hazards.
  • Application of the DRSABCD process in managing an casualty including the chain of survival.
  • Application of an AED.
  • Delivery of CPR to an adult and infant on resuscitation manikins.
  • Legal, workplace and community considerations.

ACECQA Requirements

This course meets current ACECQA requirements for Asthma Management Training.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by the Asthma Australia (RTO provider number 4987).

Pre-requisities

It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR by the student be performed on the floor.

Assessments

  • Practical demonstration of CPR on an adult and infant resuscitation manikin, including the use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Written multiple choice test.

Pricing and delivery

Weekdays - $75.00 per person

Weekday evenings - $75.00 per person (minimum 6 participants)

Saturdays - $95.00 per person (minimum 10 participants)
