HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting is specifically designed to provide knowledge and skills in how to provide first aid in an education and care setting, including for asthma and anaphylaxis emergencies.

Skills and knowledge covered

Management of an unconscious breathing person and of an unconscious non-breathing person

  • Safe work practices including minimizing risks and potential hazards
  • Application of the DRSABCD process in managing a casualty including the chain of survival
  • Application of an AED
  • Delivery of CPR to an adult and infant on resuscitation manikins
  • Legal, workplace and community considerations
  • Applied first aid procedures for: allergic reaction and anaphylaxis, bleeding control, choking, envenomation and more.
  • Specific legal requirements regarding first aid under the Education and Care Services National Regulations.

ACECQA Requirements

This course meets current ACECQA requirements for Asthma Management Training.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by Asthma Australia (RTO provider number 4987)

Pre-requisities

It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstrations of CPR by the student be performed on the floor.

Assessments

  • Practical demonstration of CPR on an adult, child and infant resuscitation manikin, including the use of an Automated External Defibrillator.
  • Practical demonstration of a range of first aid practices
  • Written multiple choice test and completion of an incident report form

Pricing and delivery

Week day $185.00 per person - Online Learning / Face to Face training - 1 day

Saturday - $200 per person with a minimum of 10 participants
