Leanne Celebrates 10 Years Serving the Northern Territory Asthma Community

About Leanne

Leanne Elliott-Holmes is an Asthma Educator and Master Trainer with the Asthma Foundation NT. In February, she hit a major milestone - her 10 year anniversary with the organisation.

For 10 years, Leanne has been instrumental in shaping and delivering the educational programs of the foundation to our broad and varied client based.

To make it a bit special, the Board and the team managed to surprise Leanne with a celebratory dinner and a few tokens of appreciation.

About Leanne

Leanne joined the Asthma Foundation NT in 2009 and with her nursing background has been a good fit for the organisation. Since joining the foundation Leanne has actively developed her knowledge and skills in asthma, its management and spirometry. In 2017 she was awarded the Asthma Australia Spotlight on Asthma Award in recognition for her exceptional service to the community with her development of the Northern Territory Department of Education Asthma Guidelines for schools. Taking this achievement to a national level, she is also an active member of the Asthma Australia's Working Committee designated in the design of national asthma guidelines for schools.

Leanne has also developed a program called Asthma In Your Mate. It is aimed at children and adolescents, helping to destigmatise asthma and using reliever medication, and encouraging participants to help their friends if they have an acute asthma flare up. This program has been adopted by NT Schools Sports and is being delivered throughout the Territory including remote communities.

Leanne has a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training and she is the leading force in accredited training for schools, childcare workers and pharmacists.

AFNT acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we meet and conduct our services, respecting language and culture and elders past and present.
